Cong-ying Cai, Xiao-lan Yao,yaoxiaolan@bit.edu.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2020, Volume 21, Issue 10,   Pages 1413-1534 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1900586

Abstract: The super giant slalom (Super-G) is a speed event in alpine skiing, in which the skier trajectory has a significant influence on the athletes’ performances. It is a challenging task to determine an for the skiers along the entire course because of the complexity and difficulty in the convergence of the optimization model. In this study, a model for alpine skiers competing in the Super-G is established based on the theory, in which the objective is to minimize the runtime between the starting point and the finish line. The original problem is converted into a multi-phase nonlinear problem solved with a , and the trajectory parameters are optimized to discover the time-. Using carried out by the MATLAB optimization toolbox, the is obtained under several equality and inequality constraints. Simulation results reveal the effectiveness and rationality of the model. A test is carried out to show that our code works properly. In addition, several practical proposals are provided to help alpine skiers improve their training and skiing performance.

A review of cooperative path planning of an unmanned aerial vehicle group

Hao Zhang, Bin Xin, Li-hua Dou, Jie Chen, Kaoru Hirota,brucebin@bit.edu.cn

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2020, Volume 21, Issue 12,   Pages 1671-1814 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.2000228

Abstract: As a cutting-edge branch of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology, the of a group of UAVs has attracted increasing attention from both civil and military sectors, due to its remarkable merits in functionality and flexibility for accomplishing complex extensive tasks, e.g., search and rescue, fire-fighting, reconnaissance, and surveillance. Cooperative (CPP) is a key problem for a UAV group in executing tasks collectively. In this paper, an attempt is made to perform a comprehensive review of the research on CPP for UAV groups. First, a generalized optimization framework of CPP problems is proposed from the viewpoint of three key elements, i.e., task, UAV group, and environment, as a basis for a comprehensive classification of different types of CPP problems. By following the proposed framework, a taxonomy for the classification of existing CPP problems is proposed to describe different kinds of CPPs in a unified way. Then, a review and a statistical analysis are presented based on the taxonomy, emphasizing the coordinative elements in the existing CPP research. In addition, a collection of challenging CPP problems are provided to highlight future research directions.

Frontiers of Medicine 2019, Volume 13, Issue 4,   Pages 471-481 doi: 10.1007/s11684-019-0686-8

Abstract: Both immunosuppressants and antibiotics (ABX) are indispensable for transplant patients. However, the former increases the risk of new-onset diabetes, whereas the latter impacts intestinal microbiota (IM). It is still unclear whether and how the interaction between immunosuppressants and ABX alters the IM and thus leads to glucose metabolism disorders. This study examined the alterations of glucose and lipid metabolism and IM in mice exposed to tacrolimus (TAC) with or without ABX. We found that ABX further aggravated TAC-induced glucose tolerance and increased insulin secretion. Combined treatment resulted in exacerbated lipid accumulation in the liver. TAC-altered microbial community was further amplified by ABX administration, as characterized by reductions in phylum Firmicutes, family Lachnospiraceae, and genus . Analyses based on the metagenomic profiles revealed that ABX augmented the effect of TAC on microbial metabolic function mostly related to lipid metabolism. The altered components of gut microbiome and predicted microbial functional profiles showed significant correlation with hepatic lipid accumulation and glucose disorders. In conclusion, ABX aggravated the effect of TAC on the microbiome and its metabolic capacities, which might contribute to hepatic lipid accumulation and glucose disorders. These findings suggest that the ABX-altered microbiome can amplify the diabetogenic effect of TAC and could be a novel therapeutic target for patients.

Talin and kindlin: the one-two punch in integrin activation

Feng Ye, Adam K. Snider, Mark H. Ginsberg

Frontiers of Medicine 2014, Volume 8, Issue 1,   Pages 6-16 doi: 10.1007/s11684-014-0317-3

Abstract:

Proper cell-cell and cell-matrix contacts mediated by integrin adhesion receptors are important for development, immune response, hemostasis and wound healing. Integrins pass trans-membrane signals bidirectionally through their regulated affinities for extracellular ligands and intracellular signaling molecules. Such bidirectional signaling by integrins is enabled by the conformational changes that are often linked among extracellular, transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains. Here, we review how talin-integrin and kindlin-integrin interactions, in cooperation with talin-lipid and kindlin-lipid interactions, regulate integrin affinities and how the progress in these areas helps us understand integrin-related diseases.
